Uhuru Highway before & After

Even as the civil works are ongoing, traffic management from Mlolongo – Westlands remains a critical component of the project implementation so as to ensure relative ease of movement and safety for all road users.

Mlolongo Area

The sections of the Expressway where traffic congestion could still be experienced, include areas currently under intervention as indicated below:

1. Between Hilton Garden Hotel and Gateway mall where motorists have been diverted to the two (2)-lane service road as the contractor expedites construction works of Mombasa road within this section

2. The slip road from Airport North Road to Mombasa road (RHS) at the Eastern Bypass Interchange. The contractor is currently backfilling the permanent on-ramp at that location. Currently, a paved detour has been provided for use

3. Mlolongo area where a new pedestrian footbridge is being constructed (Motorists are encouraged to exercise caution when approaching)

4. U – turn from Allpack service road, where access from the service lane to Mombasa Road has been blocked to reduce congestion on the main carriageway. Motorists on the service road who wish to make U-turn will have to do so at Mlolongo

5. GM area where there is a temporary diversion

6. Bunyala Round About – University Way where construction is still ongoing

Below is the progress status of various works along the Nairobi Expressway :

Road section

Construction of the operation and

monitoring centre

Stands at 99.5% completion

Motorists are urged to continue exercising caution and road courtesy as that will help manage traffic better. In the meantime, KeNHA is committed to ensure timely completion of the Nairobi Expressway and delivery of the best quality services to customers and stakeholders at all times.
